I started my martial arts training with Judo when I was 8 and trained for 8 years, reaching blue belt level in 1998.
My introduction to Kung Fu was much later, in 2008, when I started training in the Shaolin style with Shifu Andy Griggs and Shifu Xue Zhang. I trained with them for 6 years, during which I learnt the core movements, kicks, punches, many forms, applications and sparring.
When both Andy and Xue took a break from teaching to focus on their own practice, I joined the Black Dragon School of Martial Arts in Aylesbury and practiced Wing Chun for a year with Shifu Clive Spring. Wing Chun improved my close range fighting skills and I still use a lot of the techniques during sparring.
I joined Daoshu Wudang Arts when Shifu Giles Yeates opened the club in 2015 to learn Wudang Kung Fu. Since, I have been learning many other practice, such as Tai Ji, Qi Gong, Bagua, and Meditation.
I have also had the opportunity to learn from Shifu Pablo Salas, Shifu Alex Miexa, Shifu Jeff Reid (Zi He) and 15th generation master Zhong Xue Chao.
In 2020, I became an assistant intructor to Shifu Giles Yeates (Zi Wu) and in October 2023, during the 2 weeks training in the wudang mountain with Shifu Zhong Xue Chao, I became an instructor
certified by the Wudang dao Cultural Institute.
I now offer private tuition both in Oxford and around Buckingham.
